Special adoption considerations: May be vocal due to breed. Likes to jump so best in a home without young children.

Looking for a happy, active pup who loves people and other dogs? Then meet Jovi! He's a 1-year old Beagle / Hound mix who according to folks at the shelter is one fun-loving guy! They describe Jovi as friendly and easy-going, which is no surprise given that he's part Beagle. Look closely at Jovi's photos: wouldn't you love to wake up to that sweet puppy-like face every day?

Jovi will need daily exercise to keep him healthy and happy. The chance to run, whether with you or with other dogs, will help burn off his adolescent energy. If you're not a runner trips to a fenced-in dog park or some time in doggie daycare will do wonders. And don't forget some mental stimulation such as puzzle toys or scent detection exercises. Let Jovi put that Beagle / Hound dog nose to work! Jovi likes to chew on things so Kongs and other toys designed for dogs to chew on should be in his toy box.

Like most adolescents Jovi can be a little bit goofy so you will need to spend some time teaching him the ropes. Jovi likes to jump and needs to be taught that it's much better to keep all four paws on the ground when meeting new people. Obedience training will go a long way in helping him learn to be the best dog that he can. He already walks willingly and well on a leash.

 Like most shelter dogs, Jovi may need a refresher on housetraining. He is likely crate trained. Jovi loves other dogs and is okay with cats but has not yet been tested with kids. Given his tendency to jump he might be best in home without young children.
