Magnificent Marli

Marli has an adoption pending.  Applications are no longer being accepted.

MARLI NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Marli      Best Guess for Breed: Lab

Best Guess for Age: 5 years     SEX:  female

Approximate Weight: 54 lbs

Has Lived With:  other dogs and gets along great with kids.  She should not live with cats!

Currently Living at: DC area foster

Special Adoption Considerations: Marli was positive for heartworms when we rescued her, but has been successfully treated.  Like all dogs, she needs to be kept on a monthly heartworm prevention.   Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.   We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.

What I'm looking for:   A home where I can be loved.   I am a sweet, medium energy girl, definitey out of the crazy puppy stage.  I'd love to be your companion and take long walks and hikes with you.  I wouldn't mind living in a home with another dog as I get along great with dogs.  I can be shy around humans sometimes, especially men.  I just need some one who can give me some patience and love.  Visiting the dog park to hang out with my canine buddies is something I will really like.  I bet taking me to obedience training will be a great bonding experience for us.

What my foster says about me:   Marli is the perfect starter dog, apartment dog, or family pet as she’s not a typical high energy lab. She gets along great with other dogs but prefers to be with her humans. She loves kids and is very patient with them. She can be a little shy at first but once she gets to know you she just wants to snuggle. Don’t let the sugar on her face fool you, this girl still has the heart of a much younger pup and gets very excited about a game of fetch with her favorite squeaker. She walks easy on a loose leash, rides well in the car and is quiet in the house.

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any particular dog is housebroken.  All our dogs are working on crate training.
