Cutie-pa-tootie looking for love!

BARLEY HAS A PENDING ADOPTION AND IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE - Please consider adopting another one of our pups that need loving homes!

Come meet Barley and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (MAR 25) from 12-3 pm at the Rockville Petco (1507 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852)!!!!!!

Name: Barley     Best Guess for Breed: Lab/Hound Mix

Best Guess for Age: 4 months (as of 3/12/18)    SEX: Male

Approximate Weight: 28 pounds (as of 3/12/18)

Has Lived With:  Other dogs

Currently Living at: Foster home

Special adoption considerations:  Young puppy. Due to this puppy's tender age it can not be left for more than 4 hours at a time. Adopters who are away from the home for the standard 8+ hour work day must provide PROOF of a MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY dog walking commitment PRIOR to adoption.

FOSTER UPDATE: Barley is super energetic and loves the outdoors. He wants to approach all people and say hi. He will approach other dogs with caution but with enthusiasm and wants to play. He is now house broken, but he needs to be watched closely. He is very treat motivated. Barley has learned to sit and wait by the door to be taken out. He is currently 28 lbs and growing fast. Sleeps in crate at night and when I am out during the day. Would be fantastic with another young dog that loves to play.

My name is Barley and I'm a hound/lab mix with soft, floppy ears! I am about 4 months (as of 3/12/18) and around 28 pounds (as of 3/12/18). As you can tell, I am very young, and really a baby in many ways. I will need you to be patient and loving with me so I can grow up into a well-behaved adult dog. As I get older, I'm probably going to need lots of walks every day, and with my breed mix, I may even need regular opportunities to run, too! I can't wait for you to take me out and about for all the lovely sniffs in the world, people and other animals to meet, and strange sounds to listen to! On the other hand, being a little puppy and taking in all these new sights, smells, and sounds is EXHAUSTING! Once I wear myself out, nothing sounds nicer than a nap in my cozy bed, on YOUR cozy bed, maybe in your lap...

I'm not sure how I'll do around cats or kids yet, but we can certainly find that out. In addition, I can't wait for you to sign me up for puppy kindergarten so I can learn to play nicely with other puppers like myself, some of my basic commands, and even how to walk on a leash without trying to chew on it!

So, whaddya think? Are you ready for a sweet baby boy like me to come bouncing on into your life?

Barley is not old enough to have had all of his vaccines.  It will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time.  Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, he is at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.

Due to his young age, Barley has not yet been spayed or neutered.  As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than 5/12/18.

Like most puppies, Barley will need to work on his housetraining. Barley will also need to go to obedience school so he can grow into a well-socialized dog!

The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Kelly R at kellyr@luckydoganimalrescue.org!
