Meet Sweet Maggie!

Approximate Weight: 60 pounds

Special adoption considerations:  Maggie tested positive for Heartworm disease and has been treated on 2/27/18. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.

Maggie is Looking For: Maggie loves people and is looking for a forever family to love her back! She is an energetic and fun-loving girl, and  would benefit from mental and physical stimulation through frequent trips to the dog park or even doggie daycare so she can socialize with her canine friends! She is adventurous so would thrive with an adopter who is a hiker, walker or even a runner.   If her adopter works full time, Maggie will need a midday dog walker.   She knows a few basic commands and is willing to learn more. She will need a bit of reinforcement to learn how to walk without pulling, but can do it when she wants to!  She looks forward to obedience school to hone her doggie manners and be the best dog she can be!

Maggie loves to play and gets along great with other dogs at the dog park.  This video shows Maggie running and playing, and paying attention to treat-offering humans!

What My Caretaker Says About Me: Maggie is doing great.  Plays all day, with so much energy she will need an experienced owner ready to help Maggie through training.  She's just very happy and excited and needs to learn to channel that excitement.  She sleeps in a crate at night and knows that is where she goes to rest.   She gives great kisses, loves to rest her head on you and does great in the car.

Like most shelter dogs, Maggie may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained.

TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting,  please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online HERE .
