Best Guess for Age: About 6 months (as of 7/10/18)     SEX: Female

Approximate Weight: 20 pounds (as of 5/30/18)

Has Lived With: Other doggies at the shelter

Currently Living at: DC area foster home

Special adoption considerations:  Summer needs to go to a home with no kids under 15 due to some guarding tendencies. She will need to go to a home with a family that will be patient with her and help her build confidence. 

Foster Update:  Summer is very sweet, affectionate and agreeable. She follows her foster mom around and loves to give kisses. Summer is an eager playmate with the other dog in the house and curiously playful with the cats. She loves her toys and likes to place them in her crate. She loves being rewarded with treats! 

Meet sweet Summer! Summer is a 6 month old shepherd/retriever mix weighing in at about 20 lbs and she can't wait to meet you! 

Summer is a puppy and will need PLENTY of exercise and cannot wait to learn with you in DC! She's dreaming of long walks and trips to the dog park in her future and would love to play with new toys, explore the neighborhood and even go to obedience classes to show off just how smart she is! She's counting down the minutes until she can meet your friends, go on trips, and cuddle up with you on the couch after a long day. She will need plenty of metal stimulation daily, as well, to stay happy and healthy!

She is great with other dogs and is good with cats, but needs to go to a home with no kids under 15 due to some guarding tendencies. 

Like most puppies, Summer will need to work on her housetraining. Summer will also need to go to obedience school so she can grow into a well-socialized dog!
