Meet Akira! Akira is a gorgeous 8 month old lab/shepherd mix from Puerto Rico weighing in at 36 lbs who cannot WAIT to meet you!  

Akira is a young energetic girl who will require PLENTY of exercise and cannot wait to grow and learn with you in DC! She has no idea how she ended up in a scary shelter but she's dreaming of long walks and trips to the dog park in her future. She'd love to play with new toys, explore the neighborhood and even go to obedience classes to show off just how smart she is! She is counting down the minutes until she can meet your friends, go on trips, and cuddle up with you on the couch after a long day.

Akira is good with other dogs so she'd be a great addition to an existing pack or happy to soak up all the attention as an only dog. We haven't had a chance to see her interact with kids or cats yet, but if you have them let us know and we're happy to find out for you.

Like most shelter dogs, Akira may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained.  

Feedback from her dog walker: 
"I walked Akira today and she is the perfect dog - well behaved and attentive. She played a whole lot with a little dog that we met on the street.  Her tail curls up and her ears are very expressive and she likes to cuddle."
