handsome heterochromatic boy ISO his humans!

CLOVIS NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Clovis     Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd mix

Best Guess for Age: 3 years as of November 2024    SEX:  Male

Approximate Weight: 78 lbs

Gets Along With:  Clovis loves other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog! Clovis has lived with two cats before. We haven't seen him with kids but are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!

Currently Living at:  DC area foster home

Special adoption considerations: Clovis can be shy. He needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog who will show him the ropes.

About Clovis: This handsome boy arrived into our care in the summer of 2022 and was adopted out to a loving home. For more than two years, he enjoyed life with his humans and two cats (with whom he peacefully co-existed). Through no fault of his own, he came back to us and now needs a new home after completing heartworm treatment.

His previous humans say he's a sweet dog who responds well to commands. He enjoys his sniffy walks and romps in parks - he loves, loves, LOVES playing chase with other dogs! In the home, he's an awesome, chill buddy - his humans did not normally crate him but on the few occasions he needed to be crated, he simply slept. Generally, he loves quieter environments - and like many of us, would choose a nice leafy suburb and a hike through the woods over a high rise in the middle of the city.

Clovis truly loves other dogs! Because he is shy and other dogs help build his braves, he needs to go to a home with another friendly dog.

What My Foster Says About Me: Clovis is a gentle and fun boy who loves to cuddle as hard as he plays at the dog park. Clovis is amazing in the house and loves to go on sniffy-walks in quiet areas, play with toys and play chase at the dog park. After a good romp, he will cuddle and keep you company wherever you are. Clovis is easily startled by loud noises that are close to him.

Medical: Clovis was heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.

He has completed the treatment and activity restriction phase, and is awaiting his 6-month follow up test.

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online  at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
