Yates

sweet shy boy seeking fresh start and love!

YATES NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Yates          Best Guess for Breed:  Shepherd mix

Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of October 2023        SEX:  Male

Approximate Weight:  47 lbs

Gets Along With:   Yates does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog! We haven't seen him with cats but he can be tested. Due to his shyness, he is not recommended for a home with children under the age of 12.

Currently Living at:  DC area foster home.

Special adoption considerations:  Yates is shy and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog to show him the ropes. Because of his shy personality, we do not recommend him for a home with children under the age of 12.

Yates is Looking For:   This cutie was confused and scared when he arrived in the shelter. He is eager to get out and ultimately, trot through the world with confidence, exploring all the places and experiences he has not yet seen or had. Extra patient and loving adopters and a welcoming resident dog to show him how to dog will be great, and obedience school will help build his braves as well. He's already up for exploring all the toys to see what he likes best, testing various dog beds to determine the exact degree of plushness is ideal, and trying all the treats.

Most of all, though, Yates wants to live his life as a well-loved dog and to know who his family is. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes and unwavering loyalty for all his days.

What do you say? Can you envision looking down at your side and seeing those deep, dark eyes staring up at you with love?

What My Foster Says About Me:  Yates is coming out of his shell day by day. My resident dog is helping Yates feel comfortable around people and showing him it's fun to play and get treats! Yates is doing well with potty training and sleeps great in his crate overnight. When we leave the house we also crate him although it takes a while to get him to go in. You just have to be calm, nurturing and consistent- Yates reacts well to that. Yates is also coming up to us for scratches and pets for short periods of time - he watches my dog for cues. Yates is cautious and sometimes watches from the sidelines but he is treat motivated and eventually ends up hanging out with the family with his tail wagging. Yates does very well walking on a leash, likes walks and enjoys being outside. He is a sweet, quiet, gentle dog and we are so happy to be fostering him!

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
