Oregano

small sweetie seeking safety and love!

OREGANO NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name:  Oregano     Best Guess for Breed:  Chihuahua mix

Best Guess for Age: 6 years as of November 2023       SEX:   Male

Approximate Weight:   10 lbs

Gets Along With:   Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats but he can be tested. Due to his breed mix and small size, he may not go to a home with children under the age of 12

Currently Living at:  DC area fister gine,

Special adoption considerations: Oregano is a truly Lucky Dog. He tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the counseling process.

Due to his breed mix and small size, he may not go to a home with children under the age of 12.

*Note: The photos show cloudiness in one eye. That is due to scarring and his vision is not impaired.

Oregano is Looking For:  His forever home! This small sweetie ended up in the shelter through no fault of his own. He's eager to once again have his own humans for sniffy walks (down by their ankles!) and world exploration. Snuggles and cuddles are way high on his wish list, as are quality kibble and a cushy dog bed. But what he wants most of all is to know he's safe and loved and under his own roof for all his days - small dogs can live a long time and he's got a lot of good days ahead of him!

In exchange, he promises adoring gazes and tail wags and loyal companionship. What do you say? Is Oregano the one you see warming your lap as we go into the winter months?
