WAVE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name:   Wave      Best Guess for Breed: Basset hound mix 

Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of February 2024       SEX: Male

 

Approximate Weight:  20 lbs 

 

Gets Along With:  Wave does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. We haven't seen him with cats but he can be tested. Because he is extremely shy, we do not recommend a home with children under the age of 12. 

 

Currently Living at:  DC area foster home

 

Special adoption considerations:   Because Wave is extremely shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog that can help show him that the world isn't so scary. Due to his shy personality, we do not recommend him for a home with children under the age of 12.

 

About Wave:  Wave is looking for a fresh start in a quiet home with patient, supportive humans.   

A Tale of Resilience:
Wave and his brother, Riptide, escaped from a challenging hoarding situation. While Riptide has found his forever home, Wave is still on the journey to finding his. Due to his past, Wave needs to build his braves. He needs someone patient that can help him overcome his lack of socialization and learn that the world isn't such a scary place after all.

Building Bravery:

Day-to-day things can be overwhelming for Wave. The hustle and bustle of urban environments can be daunting for a dog who hasn't seen much beyond his previous surroundings. However, with a patient adopter by his side, Wave can gradually build his bravery and confidence.  

Friendly and Submissive:

Wave is a friendly soul who gets along well with other dogs and tends to be submissive in nature. He gets along best with other dogs that are roughly his size. 

 

Treat Lover and Gentle Soul:

Wave is highly motivated by treats, which helps with training. Once he warms up to someone, he wants to be in their presence. He's a big-hearted boy with an endless capacity for love and affection for someone who is willing to help him crack out of his shell.

What My Foster Says About Me:   Wave is slowly opening up! He's a gentle little boy and the ultimate snuggler. He loves to be held on our laps and soaks up affection. He's also treat-motivated, which will help make training easier once he gains a bit more confidence.

Wave was initially trained on piddle pads and uses them reliably, which would make him great for an apartment. 

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
