Come meet Lynhurst and other great adoptable dogs this Saturday (August 3rd) from 12-2 pm at the Petco in Rockville (1507 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852)!

Name: Lynhurst      Best Guess for Breed: Coonhound/Hound mix

Best Guess for Age:  2 years as of February 2024        SEX:   Female

Approximate Weight:  44 lbs

Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids but she can be tested. Due to her prey drive, Lynhurst should not go to a home with cats.

Currently Living at:  DC boarding facility

Lynhurst is Looking For:   If you know, you KNOW. Hounds are pretty awesome and coonhounds are definitely super special! They are sweet! They can be goofy! They can be so chill in the home - sprawling on the sofa is a pastime - and so eager to sniff out everything outside. Lynhurst is looking for her own humans for long super sniffy walks, romps in parks, and lots of adventures (ones where she can sniff too, natch).

She's in her prime as an adult and has so much love and loyal companionship to give - and so many ways to make you laugh. In exchange she's asking for quality kibble, a cushy dog bed, and always knowing she's safe and loved and under her own roof. What do you say? Does that sound like a good deal to you?

What My Foster Says About Me:

  • She is great in the car. She will move around, so it’s important she’s either in a doggie car seat or tied to a headrest, but the second she got into the car seat she was asleep for the entire ride!

  • She loves toys! Especially soft plushy toys with squeakers. She can play by herself with a toy and keep herself very entertained. One important note: she should be monitored with soft toys because she will tear them apart in about 20 minutes lol.

  • She is great at fetch! She knows to chase a ball and bring it back, when I say drop she drops it right at my feet. It’s a great exercise to get her energy out.

  • She learns commands quickly and actually enjoys learning them. We’ve been practicing down and stay, she already knows sit.

  • She’s incredibly smart and since she’s a hound you see that manifest in very cool ways. For example, in our backyard she was able to spot a corner where we’ve had mice and she always sniffs around there. Another time she discovered our treat cabinet and did a “sit” in front of it! So adorable. Her mannerisms are as “hound” as you can get.

  • She is extremely kind and affectionate. We haven’t seen any signs of aggression whatsoever, not even when we’ve put her in the crate (her least favorite place) or wiped her down after a bath.

  • She’s great with other dogs! Our resident dog is smaller than her and doesn’t warm up quickly. She gave him plenty of space and only initiated playtime on the third day once he warmed up. I feel very comfortable with her around my dog.

  • She’s really fun to walk!! She needs work on the leash but you can see how much she enjoys the process and she can go for as little or as long as you’d like!

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
