DUCKY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Come meet Ducky and other great adoptable dogs this Saturday (April 20th) from 12-2 pm at Unleashed by Petco in Arlington (5400 Lee Hwy A, Arlington, VA 22207)!

Name: Ducky     Best Guess for Breed:  Chihuahua/Dachshund mix

Best Guess for Age:  3 years as of February 2024      SEXFemale

Approximate Weight:  16 lbs

Gets Along WithOther dogs! We haven't seen her with cats but she can be tested. Due to her breed, Ducky should not go to a home with kids under 12.

Currently Living at:  DC area foster home

Special adoption considerations: Ducky is a truly Lucky Dog! She tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process.

Ducky is Looking For:  A forever home! This small sweetie ended up in the shelter through no fault of her own. She's eager to once again have her own humans for sniffy walks (down by their ankles!) and world exploration. Snuggles and cuddles are way high on her wish list, as are quality kibble and a cushy dog bed. But what she wants most of all is to know she's safe and loved and under her own roof for all her days - small dogs can live a long time and he's got a lot of good days ahead of her!

In exchange, she promises adoring gazes and tail wags and loyal companionship. What do you say? Does Ducky have a spot in your lap and your life?

What My Foster Says About Me:   "Ducky is such a lovely dog. I can't say enough good things about her.

  • She loves being in the same room with her humans!
  • She is great in the crate. She's in there overnight and when we're out, and she doesn't bark when she's in there.
  • She hasn't had any potty accidents in the home.
  • She's very well mannered on walks. Great on leash. She doesn't bark at other dogs when she sees them on leash - she passes them respectfully. She understandably doesn't like it when other dogs get in her face - I wouldn't either!
  • In the home, she's calm. She's happy to hang out with us and chill. When she gets her occasional zoomies, it is so cute!

Ducky is a chill and loving girl who would be great either as a solo dog in the home or with another dog who is respectful of her boundaries and lets her warm up at her pace. She and her new family will all be so lucky to have each other. "

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
