sweet gent seeking fresh start and love!

CHET NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Come meet Chet and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (April 28th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)!

Name:  Chet      Best Guess for Breed:  German Shepherd mix

Best Guess for Age: 4 years as of March 2024       SEX:    Male

Approximate Weight:  63 lbs

Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested

Currently Living at:  DC area foster home.

Special adoption considerations: Chet is a truly Lucky Dog! He tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process.

Chet is Looking For: His forever home! This sweet gent needs a new home through no fault of his own. He's eager to once again have his own humans - German shepherds are known for being quite attached to their people! Long sniffy walks and world exploration with them is on his wish list, as are a cushy dog bed and quality kibble. But you know what's right at the top of the list? Being safe and loved and under his own roof for all his days.

Shelter staff say he's very easy on the leash and very good with other dogs. He's in his prime as an adult, well out of the puppy yips, and is more than ready to ease into his new humans' home and hearts. In exchange, they get the immense amount of love and loyalty he is storing up for his new family. What do you say? Is that going to be you?

What My Foster Says About Me:  Chet (Chetty Bear!) is very sweet and loving. He is a quiet dog, and is nervous in new spaces, especially indoors. He will need time to settle in, and learn to trust that his life is going to be good now! He can't wait to meet his special person, and be your buddy for life!

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
