ADINA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!
Come meet Adina and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (1/12/25) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Rockville, MD (5154 Nicholson Ln, Kensington, MD 20895)!
Name: Adina Best Guess for Breed: Lab/Retriever mix
Best Guess for Age: 2.5 years as of January 2025 SEX: Female
Approximate Weight: 40 lbs
Gets Along With: Adina does well with other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats but she can be tested if you have them.
Currently Living at: DC area foster home
Adina is look for: Her forever home! This beautiful girl with a black shiny coat and mesmerizing amber eyes landed in the shelter through no fault of her own. She's closed that chapter and is eagerly looking ahead to her next - the one where she once again has her own humans and is under her own roof.
Adina has so much love and affection to offer - so much desire to be a loyal companion. What do you say? Will she be yours?
What My Foster Says About Me: Sweet Adina has a big heart and loves her people! She’s very active and athletic, and she likes long energetic walks and exploring new places. She’ll be a great running or hiking companion, because she loves adventure! She’s fearless on urban jaunts too, unperturbed by traffic, bicycles, runners, pedestrians, and other distractions. She’s a fan of the dog park, and does a great job of adjusting her play style to the dogs she meets.
Adina loves her toys, especially ones that involve a human, like tug of war or fetch, but can entertain herself if you’re busy. She’s shown great promise on house training, with no accidents in her current foster. She likes to learn, and learns very quickly, and she takes pride in listening to you and following your commands."
Special adoption considerations: Adina was heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! She is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we arrange for a follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. Adina has already completed all these steps and tested negative at her six month test!
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
