Adina

sweet shy girl seeking love and safety!

ADINA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Adina      Best Guess for Breed:   Lab mix

Best Guess for Age:  2 years as of March 2024      SEX:   Female

Approximate Weight: 45 lbs

Gets Along With:  Adina does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. We haven't seen her with cats but she can be tested. Because she is shy, we do not recommend her for a home with children under the age of 12.

Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get her freedom ride up here!

Special adoption considerations: Adina is a truly Lucky Dog. Although she has tested positive for heartworms, treatment has been scheduled! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.  We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.

Because Adina is shy, she needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. Due to her shy personality, we do not recommend her for a home with children under the age of 12.

Adina is Looking For:  Her forever home! This sweet shy girl landed in the shelter through no fault of her own. She's closed that chapter and is eagerly looking ahead to her next - the one where she once again has her own humans and is under her own roof.

She would love to trot through the world with all the confidence of a well-loved dog. Right now she doesn't have enough experience in various environments and is shy. She'd love to have extra loving and patient adopters who help her gain that experience - and a friendly resident dog who shows her how to dog.

Adina has so much love and affection to offer - so much desire to be a loyal companion. What do you say? Will she be yours?

What My Foster Says About Me:  We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster
