Name: Boris      Best Guess for Breed: Long coated Chihuahua and terrier mix

Best Guess for Age:  3 years as of May 2024   SEX: Male

Approximate Weight:   14.6 lbs

Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested

Currently Living at: DC area foster home.

Special adoption considerations: Boris is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky!  They are part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study will be placed at random, in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, this pup will be eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  Post treatment, we will work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test 6 months after treatment concludes, followed by a second test at 9 months.

Boris is Looking For:   His forever home! This sweetie is eager to once again have his own humans for snuggles and world exploration! Sniffy walks in the neighborhood, romps in parks, excursions for pup cups - yes, please! And making new pup and people pals sounds good too. 

But ya know - Boris is out of the puppy yips and knows what's most important in life: knowing he's safe and loved and under his own roof. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes and lap warming (well, at his size, at least one small part of your lap) and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
