Hi, I'm Woody a handsome Chow who was rescued from Apple Valley Animal Services' death row by C.A.R.L. I was recently in a foster home with an elderly couple, but had to come back because if I didn't get the exercise I needed - walk/run/playtime - I would take myself out for a walk/run. I need an energetic family who will give me the daily exercise I need.

While I was at my foster home they noted I love to be pet and would even sit on their foot to keep them from leaving. They previously owned 2 other Chows and commented that I was the sweetest and gentlest Chow they have ever had. I liked the little dog that lived next door and in general I'm good with other dogs too. I just don't like dominant dogs who try to push me around, but I don't know of anyone (canine or human) who does. I love children (from toddlers to teens) and I'm house trained and know how to use a doggy door. I've even had a few training sessions with a professional trainer paid for by a generous C.A.R.L. volunteer so I know the basic commands.

As you can see from my picture I enjoy a dip in the wading pool they have set up in the play yard at the kennel. So if you have an active family, let’s make arrangements to meet sometime soon!
