My name is Maia. I am currently in my foster home with a senior English Shepherd and a 2 yr old Pyr Mix. I really like my foster mates, but I do give the Senior respect for his space. My foster sister and I play chase, wrestle and pounce on each other. It is so much fun. I know when I get tired I can go to my crate, which I keep clean, and get a nap on my favorite blanket. When I am not playing with my foster sister I have a favorite squeaky dragon toy that I play with. Of course, my most favorite thing is snuggling with my foster Mom. She gives me tummy rubs, talks to me about what a beautiful girl I am going to be, and explains to me that soon I will have a fur-ever home with a family on which I can shower my love and affection. My foster Mom has been taking me for walks on the leash. I am still a little scared on the leash, but I am gaining confidence and really want to please my foster Mom. We go for car rides and I keep thinking about the ride that will take me to the fur-ever home that my foster Mom tells me about. I am looking forward to my fur-ever family and want to run and play and show my new family what an intelligent, happy, playful and loving girl I am!

About Us: National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a not-for-profit, tax-exempt coalition of Pyr rescuers and rescue groups. We save Pyrs and Pyr mixes across the country and place them in approved foster homes so we know how they will interact with your family. Please consider adopting or fostering. Every dog who is fostered or adopted makes room for another Pyr coming out of a kill shelter. Prior to adoption, NGPR dogs are fostered for a minimum of two weeks (usually more), spayed or neutered and fully vetted. Dogs coming from out of area are certified with a USDA health certificate before going to their new homes. Our rescuers adhere to the highest placement standards and will take back any dog whose adoption does not succeed. Visit www.nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed.
