From the Foster:

Chowder is a special little guy looking for a very special home.

Originally born in a culvert in Oklahoma, this little peanut was one step shy of feral when he came into his foster home. He spent his first 48 hours hiding, and is still shy with new people. He's very outgoing and playful with other dogs, so would prefer a home with a playful canine buddy who can show him the ropes. Chowder's come a long way, and will approach new people now as long as they are patient. He takes treats gently, but prefers it if you don't try to pet him until he's had a chance to get to know you. Since fast movements and loud noises can be scary for him, Chowder's hoping for a family without young children as they can be a bit too overwhelming.

Once he's comfortable with you, this little guy is a pistol! Chowder loves to run and run and run. He uses our circular living room/den/dining room as his personal racetrack to zoom and zoom at least twice a day. Chowder loves to wrestle with other dogs and play tug with any toy you're willing to hold onto. Like most puppies, he also chews everything he can get his mouth on. He's a very active and smart little guy who's already figured out the clicker and is hoping for a family who will take him to lots of training classes for both socialization and mental exercise.

Once the day is done, Chowder is happy to snuggle up for a good cuddle session before bed. He sleeps through the night in his crate as long as he can be close enough to see his people. In fact, his crate is one of his all-time favorite places, and he regularly goes there to stash favorite toys, nap, or just hang out if he starts to feel a bit overwhelmed. He's getting really good about going potty on his potty pads, and will be brave enough about walking near people and being on his leash to start outdoor potty training soon. He's also learning to spend brief periods of time by himself and although he complains at first, he settles in quickly with a stuffed Kong toy or bully stick.

If you're looking for an active, loyal little sidekick to be a good friend to you and your current dog, Chowder's your puppy!

All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.
