From the Foster: Lady is a pointer/ Dalmatian mix, around a year and a half old, she's a total sweetheart! she is great with all new people she meets, even did well with young kids at an adoption event, but does get excited and likes to hug, so may need to be cautious. She is a complete cuddle bug, and tends to think she's a lap dog, she'll cuddle up with you as soon as you sit down. She Does very well with my residents and other fosters, but does get a little hyper and rough when playing (still has some puppy in her). We are working on a few signs with her, she does seem scared when you go to pet her head she pulls back, and is scared of open hands, she may have been hit? So for "No!" We have been training her by gaining eye contact, then waving just my pointer finger near her face, then redirecting her. We are also working on sitting she does well with sitting if you hold your hand up as if you have a treat, when you have her attention; when you do not, or if she is excited gently pushing on her backend works well! She is best with "come here" with basic hand motions toward your body.   Cats no go for her as she just wants to play, play, play, and chase!! She is not toy or food aggressive, she is fully house trained, but not a fan of the crate at all! And as she can't hear how loud she is, when we do need to separate the pack I put her alone in my room, and she is fine!  She loves to go on walks, sunbathe and play with her toy especially tug of war! Lady really just wants to find her people, and once she does she won't leave your side.

All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.

I f you would like to meet/adopt this animal or anyone else, then please fill out an adoption application at http://secondhandhounds.org/adoption-information/ and the foster(s) will be in touch!  Keep in mind that there may be multiple applicants applying for the same animal(s).  You only need to complete 1 application for multiple animals that you're interested in.

Note   - We change an animal's listing to say "PENDING ADOPTION" when they already had a meet and greet with a family who plans to adopt that animal.  We put "NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS" on a listing when an animal has multiple applications in and the foster has asked to stop accepting any more while they review the applications they've already received.

If you would like to be a foster for Secondhand Hounds, then please fill out a foster application,   http://secondhandhounds.org/fostervolunteer-information/fostering-101/   You can choose the type of animal you'd like to foster and we will supply everything you need (food, collar, bowls, crate, etc.) while the animal is in your care.
