Due to Covid19 Executive Order of all elective surgeries including spay/neuters for dogs and cats be on hold, spay neuter adoption requirements have been temporarily lifted so that companion animals can find forever homes. Once the Executive Order has expired, adopter will be required to schedule their Paws on the Ground Colorado adopted pet for their spay or neuter within 30 days. Your adoption fee covers the spay/neuter as long as it is with one of our partner veterinarians. Paws on the Ground Colorado is unable to pay for non-partner vet spay or neuters. Please email potg@pawsonthegroundco.org when the appointment has been scheduled. Failure to sterilize the adopted animal within the reasonable time frame after the order has been lifted with result in the adoption being null and void. Paws on the Ground Colorado will retain the right to reclaim the animal.
By selecting yes to the statements below, the adopter agrees to the terms and conditions of this contract. Paws on the Ground Colorado will take any adopted animal back but will ask for a time frame of up to two weeks to find a suitable foster home. Paws on the Ground Colorado does not want its animals in a shelter situation again where they would be in risk of euthanasia or to take away the space of a true stray. Paws on the Ground Colorado will give a refund only when an animal is returned due to health reasons, parasites excluded, within the first two weeks from date of adoption. Adopter understands that evidence of vaccinations and vet records will be provided via email within 7 days.
From the date of this contract the adopter agrees to assume full responsibility for the adopted animal. The adopter agrees to be responsible for the adopted animals behavior and actions and to take full responsibility for veterinary care including an annual exam and routine vaccinations and tests. The adopter agrees to provide proper food, water and shelter.*
Adopter acknowledges the receipt of the Colorado Department of Agriculture’s rabies education document. *
Adopter acknowledges that many of these dogs have been abandoned, ignored by their previous owners, or turned in to a shelter, having little interaction with someone who cares about them. When adopted, they will need time to adjust to the changes in their life. *
Adopter understands the rescue does not guarantee breed unless papers are provided with intake or surrender. The shelters assign the breeds and not always are they accurate and usually a guess. We do not guarantee health past the basic intake vet exams or obvious defects. The adopter understands these are rescue dogs and not always is their history or breed known.
Adopter agrees that the animal shall not be kept chained or tethered as a means of confinement. Adopter agrees to NOT use a retractable leash. Adopter will provide a collar for the animal to wear that will display an identification tag. The adopter agrees that he/she will not allow the animal to run at large or become a public nuisance. *
Adopter agrees to provide proper supervision while outdoors. If animal is contained in a fenced area, the adopter will ensure that the fencing is in good condition and at a proper height to keep the pet contained. *
If the animal becomes lost the adopter agrees to make every reasonable effort to locate the animal. This includes checking area shelters. The adopter agrees to reclaim the animal from any shelter or person holding the animal. If for any reason the adopter is unable or unwilling to reclaim the animal, the adopter agrees to notify Paws on the Ground so that we may reclaim the animal. *
Adopter agrees to not allow the animal to ride in the back of a pickup truck and will be aware of the dangers associated with allowing an animal to ride in a vehicle with the windows down.*
Adopter agrees to not abuse or neglect the animal under any circumstances. This includes using the animal for testing, fighting or any illegal purpose. *
Adopter agrees to assume all risk of ownership, and release Paws on the Ground Colorado, it’s agents and volunteers from any legal claim, cause or action. *
Adopter agrees to not sell, give away or dispose of the animal without prior written consent from Paws on the Ground Colorado. If adopter is unable to keep the animal for any reason, the adopter agrees to reach out to Paws on the Ground Colorado for return if space is available or to determine release from contract allowing adopter to determine placement. Paws on the Ground Colorado reserves two weeks to determine best course of action. If adopter relinquishes the animal to a shelter, sells the animal or gives it away to a person or another rescue without written permission, Paws on the Ground Colorado will seek damages of $2500.00 and any attorney fees. *
Adopter agrees to consent to the examination of this animal by Paws on the Ground at any time and that Paws on the Ground has the right to reclaim the animal for failure to comply with the terms of this contract. *
Adopter understands that the adopted animal will have received required, age appropriate vaccinations, is spay/neutered and is or will be microchipped. Adopter agrees to allow Paws on the Ground to be backup contact on the microchip. *
