2. RISKS I understand that OSKR makes no guarantees regarding the health or temperament of the cat (s). A young cat or kitten may not be old enough to be rabies vaccinated; working with any unvaccinated animal carries a risk of exposure to rabies & zoonotic diseases. I understand that while kittens have been given worm and flea treatments, results of those treatments may vary and there is potential for those parasites to remain. I understand that my personal cats must be spayed/neutered, and up-to-date on their FVRCP and rabies vaccination.

3. RESPONSIBILITY I understand that I am responsible for care of my foster and agree that I will not allow another person to have custody of my foster unless I have obtained permission from my coordinator. I will provide appropriate and humane behavior modification for behavioral problems including, but not limited to litterbox accidents and urine marking, chewing, clawing, and biting. I understand that all cats must scratch and I am willing to trim the cat’s nails, provide scratching posts, and I will never have the cat declawed. I understand that my OSKR coordinator is available for suggestions/guidance and I agree to consult with her as necessary.

4. SUPERVISION & SAFTEY I agree that my foster cat(s) will be kept solely indoors. I will ensure the security of the residence (unscreened windows, loose screens, doggie door, front door, etc.). If for any reason my foster gets out, I will alert my coordinator immediately. I agree to closely supervise my foster pets during any interaction with other animals and children to reduce the chances of mutual harm. I have informed OSKR of all pets and children that live in or visit the home. Any dogs that will come into contact with my foster do not have a bite history and will be slowly and carefully integrated with my foster.

5. AT-HOME VISITS I agree to allow an OSKR coordinator to visit my home prior to placing pets with me and to allow scheduled visits on short notice. I agree to provide photograph updates upon request, daily for the first week. I recognize that OSKR may require that I make changes relating to the care of my fosters to ensure they receive the care they deserve.

6. PROPER CARE & SUPPLIES I agree to provide regular access to adequate fresh food and water. Wet food will be offered at least three times per day and dry food should be available at all times. OSKR relies on the generosity of donors. Whenever possible, I will supply food, litter and other needed items for my foster. OSKR will provide what I am not able to during the foster period. I will provide clean litter boxes (scooped daily) for my foster. I will transport my foster in an animal carrying-cage to make sure that they are safe/secure.

7. MEDICAL CARE I will notify my coordinator IMMEDIATELY in the event of potential health issues such as sneezing, coughing, red/watery eyes, weight loss, diarrhea, failure to eat for more than one 24-hour period. I agree to attend clinics, vet appointments and surgery day as instructed by my coordinator. I understand that the cost of recommended vaccines and spay/neuter surgery are covered by OSKR. I understand that I alone am responsible for the cost of any care my foster receives that has not been expressly approved by my coordinator. I will assure that the veterinarian’s instructions are followed, including the proper storage and administration of medication.

9. ADOPTION OF FOSTERS I understand that as a Foster-to-Adopt I will pay 50% of the adoption fee ($50/cat) upfront and the remainder ($50/cat) will be due once adoption is official. This contract will be amended at that time.

1. CONVERSION TO ADOPTION The cat(s) I have been fostering are now spayed or neutered and both parties agree that the ownership of the cat has been officially transferred to me, the adopter. The care of the cat is my responsibility and moving forward I agree to provide all routine veterinary care. After 21 days, my adoption fee is non-refundable.

2. SEVERABILITY I agree that if at any time I no longer wish to own and care for this pet I will ONLY surrender this pet back to OSKR. I will not abandon them, rehome them, or relinquish them to a shelter or other rescue. I will allow at least 21 days for transportation and/or foster to be arranged. Returns of pets within three weeks of the date of this contract are allowed a full refund of the adoption fees.
