The talent, services and contributions of volunteers are important to the Great Dane Rescue of Minnesota and Wisconsin (GDROMN). Although volunteers are not employees, it is important to have guidelines and standards for volunteer services so that both the volunteer and GDROMN understand the parameters of the volunteer relationship. This Volunteer Agreement describes the arrangement between GDROMN and you, the volunteer. The definition of volunteer is anyone who, without compensation or expectation of compensation, performs a task at the direction of or on the behalf of GDROMN. A volunteer must be officially accepted and enrolled by GDROMN prior to the performance of any task.
GDROMN accepts the service of all volunteers with the understanding that such service is at the sole discretion of GDROMN and its Board of Directors.The volunteer is not an employee and is not entitled to receive salary, benefits or other compensation. Nor is a volunteer covered by any workers compensation benefits. A GDROMN volunteer is expected to carry medical insurance to cover medical expenses for any injuries sustained while performing volunteer services.The volunteer agrees to take direction from the Coordinators and the Board of Directors in the execution of their volunteer role and abide by all policies and procedures that have been established.The volunteer agrees to familiarize him or herself and remain current with all GDROMN policies and procedures, and abide by all rules and policies regarding conduct, safety and confidentiality.
As a volunteer and representative of GDROMN, you agree to conduct yourself in a courteous and professional manner at all times while engaging with the Board of Directors, the public or other volunteers. As a volunteer you agree to abide by GDROMN's mission, rules, regulations, policies and programs at all times when engaging in volunteer activities. If fostering or sheltering any GDROMN animal, permanently or temporarily, a volunteer agrees to be subject to an inspection of the living arrangements by any Board Member or its designee at any time with a 24 hour notice. An animal taken in to GDROMN's care may be removed from any fostering or sheltering at any time, with or without just cause, at the discretion of the Board of Directors or its designee. All supplies provided to you enabling you to execute your tasks as a volunteer, remain the property of GDROMN. Should, at any time, your involvement with GDROMN be terminated for any reason, you agree to return all property of GDROMN back to GDROMN or pay the retail cash value of the property if you choose to keep the property for personal use. Volunteers are asked not to contact organizations or individuals, or speak publicly on behalf of the organization without the express written approval or direction of its Board of Directors. Prior to any action or statement which might significantly affect or obligate GDROMN, volunteers must seek prior consultation and approval from the Board of Directors or its appointed agent. Volunteers are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all proprietary or privileged information to which they are exposed as a volunteer, whether this information involves a client, benefactor, other volunteer, animal or any internal communications. Failure to maintain confidentiality may result in the termination of a volunteers relationship with GDROMN.
Volunteers who do not adhere to the rules, policies and procedures in place or developed by GDROMN may be subject to dismissal. Possible grounds for dismissal may include, but are not limited to, the following: misconduct, insubordination, theft of or misuse of GDROMN materials or funds, abuse or mistreatment of any volunteer or animal, whether or not it is in GDROMN's care, failure to abide by GDROMN policies and procedures, or failure to perform assigned volunteer duties as agreed. Use of GDROMN facilities, property and access to GDROMN information by volunteers is expected and encouraged. However, use of such is to be governed by the policies set forth in this agreement. To facilitate the execution of your volunteer role, GDROMN may provide volunteers access to/use of:
* GDROMN administered email distribution lists
* GDROMN administered discussion forums
* Published forms
* Documented processes
* Reimbursement for approved expenses
* Use of dog related items (e.g. crates)
As a volunteer, you acknowledge that working with rescued animals could at times cause injury, death, or contamination, of yourself or other animals in your care and agree that GDROMN is not to be held liable for any such occurrence. As a volunteer, you authorize GDROMN to use your name and photograph at GDROMN activities in future promotions, publications or press releases to further the mission of the organization. I agree to the above terms as GDROMN Volunteer.
