Many factors determine which applicant will be matched with a particular pet. Our goal is to place every animal in the home that best suits its individual needs and personality. If you don't qualify to adopt a pet today, it does not mean you are not a good pet owner or that your home is unacceptable.

Dogs expected to weigh > 40 lbs at adulthood are preferably placed in houses with a fenced yard (no rental apartments) due to the restrictive pet-size rules of many associations.

Where your fee goes: every dollar helps cover each pet’s medical and wellness procedures, food, and daily care, or is immediately used toward shelter expenses. As a no-kill organization we support many animals who live with us for years.

All pets are spayed/neutered, tested (FIV/FeLV or heartworm, as applicable), microchipped and de-wormed before adoption. If a pet is too young for any procedure, we schedule it with the adopter. Should you choose to complete outstanding procedures at your private veterinarian, you must e-mail proof of completion to the shelter.
