Thank you for applying to Carolina Poodle Rescue. The present COVID situation has been great for our dogs, but not so much for adoption applicants. Folks are home, spending more time online, looking at dogs, and deciding they are ready to adopt. We are receiving 150 applications a week, usually we average 50 a week, and our volunteer application managers are working hard but we are behind quite a bit. Our normal process is detailed and more lengthy than other organizations, so a process that usually takes about a week could be taking several weeks.
We request your patience and understanding as we process your application. We are working diligently, not ignoring anyone, and processing each application in the order it arrives. We also want to share that while the dog that originally caught your eye may have already been adopted before your application is approved (we work multiple applications for dogs, and do not hold dogs for any reason), we take in wonderful dogs all the time, and our matchmaking team will endeavor to make a perfect match for you when the time comes!
APPLICATION PROCESS
Our application screening is a 2-part process
Part 1: You will first be asked to complete basic information. When we receive this information, your application will be reviewed by our pre-screening team. If you have owned pets in the past or own pets now, we will contact your vet for a reference. We may email you with further questions during the pre-screening process. This part of our application process should take you less than 30 minutes to complete. Our goal is to have your information reviewed and to get back to you within 48 hours (Monday through Friday).
Part 2: After a review of your basic information, we will know if we think we have a dog that would be a match for your life. We work with the same “type” of dog on a regular basis.
If we do not think we have a dog that would be a match for you, we will let you know by email.
If we feel there are some possibilities, we will contact you by email requesting additional information.
To save time, we primarily communicate via email so please provide us with an email that you check regularly.

If you have current or previous pets, CPR requires a veterinary reference. Please list the name, full address and phone number (with area code) of your veterinarian. If you have used more than one veterinarian, specify which pet(s) is a client with each specific veterinarian. List all veterinarians involved in the care of each pet and include the approximate date range during which care was provided. If this dog is not for the applicant, please also provide the name and address of the person on whose behalf you are applying; we must have the name so that the appropriate account can be found. PLEASE TELL YOUR VET THAT A CPR VOLUNTEER WILL BE CALLING THEM.
PLEASE LIST YOUR CURRENT VETERINARIAN'S FULL NAME, THE NAME OF THE CLINIC AND THE PHYSICAL ADDRESS OF THE CLINIC INCLUDING CITY AND STATE.
PLEASE LIST YOUR CURRENT VETERINARIAN'S PHONE NUMBER INCLUDING AREA CODE.

I will contact my vet and let them know that someone from CPR will get in touch with them. I understand failure to contact my vet will result in my application process being delayed
Do you own your home?*
PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR LANDLORD'S FULL NAME, PHONE NUMBER WITH AREA CODE AND/OR EMAIL ADDRESS. Please verify that you are allowed pets where you rent and any restrictions or requirements (including breed restrictions, weight restrictions or deposits required and whether you have paid those yet or not). We WILL be contacting your landlord to verify that pets are allowed on the property.

If there is not a specific dog on our available dogs list that you are interested in, please describe the type of dog you are seeking.*
We use email almost exclusively to connect with our adopters. Are you able and willing to communicate by email? Please note if you answer no, we can not advance your application. Please make sure you have given us your top email address, the one you check regularly. *
How did you learn about Carolina Poodle Rescue?*
If you learned about us from a CPR Adopter or Supporter, please share their name so that we can thank them.
Our contract with adopters specifies that the dog will be returned to Carolina Poodle Rescue if you cannot take care of it for any reason. Will you agree to this requirement?*
Dogs adopted from CPR are “non transferable.” This means your new dog must stay in your personal possession. You agree to not give away, abandon, sell or dispose of your adopted dog in any way. This includes release to family members.*
A home inspection visit is part of our screening process. Are you willing to have a Carolina Poodle Rescue volunteer visit in your home?*
We do not ship or transport our dogs. Are you and everyone who lives in your home (including dogs) willing to travel to Dreamweaver Farms in Pacolet, SC (about 30 minutes east of Spartanburg) or to the foster home to meet your new dog? Please do NOT assume that a dog that has a city/state in their names is in that city/state. Location of each dog is in the description for that dog. *
I understand that Carolina Poodle Rescue charges adoption fees for each animal that we adopt. Adoption fees are listed on our dogs’ profiles. I am willing and able to pay the adoption fee requested for the animal or animals I am interested in.*
Are you willing and able to accept all financial responsibility for the expenses associated with caring for a dog after adoption. This includes but is not limited to preventative health care including annual check-ups, vaccinations, heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention. It includes any emergency medical care in the event of illness or injury at any time in the dog’s life in addition to cost of regular care and feeding (food, supplies and equipment, toys, training and boarding)?*
I understand that if my application is approved through the first screening, I will be added to the CPR e-mailing list. Our e-mailing list is never sold to third parties or shared with any other party. Your information is secure. We use the mailing list as a way to stay in touch with excellent pet owners. Our contact is limited to monthly newsletters and donation opportunities. *
I am at least 21 years old.*
