Foster Home Agreement

Terms of Fostering

This Agreement is entered into between the undersigned, (hereinafter referred to as single or together “Foster Parent”) and the Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, Inc., a Texas nonprofit corporation (hereinafter referred to as “GALT”): 

WHEREAS, GALT cares for numerous homeless greyhounds awaiting permanent placement in private homes; and WHEREAS, Foster Parent desires to become a Foster Home for a Greyhound currently in the care of GALT;  NOW THEREFORE, for and in consideration of the mutual promises contained herein, the parties hereby agree as follows: 

1. Foster Parent will provide a healthy, stable, loving, and safe environment for the Greyhound (hereinafter referred to as “Greyhound”), preferably until the Greyhound is adopted into a permanent home. 
2. GALT will provide the usual and customary veterinary expenses, (including vaccinations, heartworm preventative, spay or neuter, initial dental cleaning if needed). Foster parent agrees to be responsible for providing food, water, bedding, and any veterinary care due to injury caused by foster parent’s negligence. Any other expenses must be pre-approved by a GALT officer or board member. 
3. Foster Parent will keep the Greyhound as a house pet, at his/her residence, never to be left outside unsupervised, and will agree that the Greyhound must also sleep indoors at night. 
4. GALT reserves the right to evaluate the living conditions and care of the Greyhound at any time and Foster Parent will surrender the Greyhound immediately if said conditions or care are determined not to be satisfactory at the sole discretion of GALT. 
5. Foster Parent will not sell, trade, abandon, breed, or dispose of the Greyhound in any way, but will notify GALT immediately if Foster Parent can no longer keep the Greyhound in his/her care and will return Greyhound to GALT.
6. Foster Parent will carry homeowner’s or renter’s, as the case may be, personal liability insurance coverage in an 
   amount of $100,000/$300,000 for the additional purpose of insuring against any possible property or personal 
   injury claims arising from any action or incident caused by the Greyhound while in Foster Parent’s care.
7. Foster Parent has read and understood the GALT Foster Manual.
8. Foster Parent hereby specifically and forever releases, discharges, and holds harmless GALT, its directors, its
   agents and any other person, firm, or corporation charged or chargeable with liability, their heirs, administrators, 
   executors, successors and assigns, from any and all claims, damages, costs, expenses, loss of service, actions and 
   causes of action belonging to the said persons fostering a Greyhound, arising out of any act, occurrence or incident
   with respect to fostering of a Greyhound from the date this agreement is signed.
