PRE-ADOPTION PROCESS
  1. Submit Pre-Adoption Application. 
  2. Once approved, Foster family will contact you to meet animal. 
  3. If adopter AND foster family agree, then adoption can move forward.  (If an animal has multiple applications, we sometimes turn down amazing families. Please know, this is not personal.)
  4. Home visit.
  5. Adoption.

COVID-19: IMPORTANT!
Due to Covid-19, our partner clinics are backlogged. This means some of our animal's spay/neuter surgery could be delayed. You may need to accommodate an upcoming appointment for this procedure in or near the metro area. 
 
Some of our animals are in the progress of receiving medical treatment or in the recovery process upon adoption. This may mean you need to accommodate an upcoming appointment with our partner clinic or adhere to specific instructions that facilitate their treatment plan.  
 
You will be notified by email if your animal is affected by this circumstance and provided guidance on the upcoming appointment upon confirmation. 
 
OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS:
At this time we are unable to do out-of-state adoptions for animals who are not altered or in the progress of medical treatment upon adoption.

DISQUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:  INVOLVEMENT OR CHARGES WITH CRIMES, OFFENSES OR A CRIMINAL HISTORY AT ANY LEVEL INDICATIVE OF ANY VIOLENT OFFENSES, ANIMAL ABUSE/NEGLECT, CHILD ABUSE/NEGLECT, ABUSE/NEGLECT OF A VULNERABLE ADULT, ANY SEXUAL OFFENSES, ASSULT, THEFT, ARSON, OFFENSES INVOLVING DRUGS, NARCOTICS, CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES, ROBBERY, BURGLARY,  KIDNAPPING,  DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND OTHER CHARGES OR INVOLVEMENT WITH CRIMES THAT WE FIND CONCERNING. ALL DENIALS WILL REMAIN AT THE DIRECT DISCRETION OF MSAR STAFF.

If your resident pet is not UTD on vaccinations, rabies or altered, we cannot process your application without a vet verified medical reason. Please give your vet clinic permission to speak with MSAR or we cannot process your application.
