This application is for adopters who are ready to adopt a specific SOS dog now or know that they would like to adopt from SOSARL and would like to be pre-screened.
SOS dogs are listed as available until their adoption is finalized. We do not hold dogs for adopters or events, and we may consider multiple applications on each dog. Submitting an application does not guarantee approval to adopt.
Many of our dogs are living in the south and may not be available for a meet-n-greet prior to adoption. If the dog does not have "LOCAL" in his/her name, s/he is not yet in the northeast.
Helpful tips to expedite the processing of your application:
Applications submitted after noon on Thursday the week of a Saturday adoption event may not be processed prior to the event. If you are interested in adopting a
dog who scheduled to
the event, p
lease plan to come to the event at 2pm.
How did you hear about SOS Animal Rescue League?
List the names, ages and relationships of all people who are currently residing in your home.*
Please describe your lifestyle and the activity level in your home:*
When will you be ready to bring home a new dog? We do not want to rush the adoption process and we want our adopters to be prepared for their new addition. We cannot hold dogs for adopters, however, as every day that a dog remains in our care is a day that we must turn away another at-risk dog. Please consider this when applying to adopt.*
I am ready to bring a dog home as soon as I find the right match and am approved.
I have a scheduling conflict in the near future that will prevent me from taking the dog immediately.
I have just started my search and am not sure when I will be ready.
