1)Duration of Foster Care: Due to the unknown duration of care, LAWS agrees that the Foster will not be responsible for keeping the animal any longer than unspecified – Until Adoption or otherwise requested by the LAWS Foster Committee. 2) Animal Appearance: The Foster agrees not to alter in any way the appearance of the animal being fostered without written permission from LAWS, unless determined by a veterinarian that such alteration is in the animal’s best medical interest. This includes declawing and cropping of ears or tails. 3) Care and Humane Treatment: The Foster agrees to provide adequate food, water, shelter, and humane treatment for the animal at all times. Additionally, the Foster agrees to adhere to all state and local laws. The Foster may submit receipts for food, bedding, cat litter (if appropriate), and simple toys to the LAWS treasurer for reimbursement. LAWS will either furnish or arrange with the Foster to purchase necessary items (e.g., carrying crate, collar, leash, food and water dishes, and grooming equipment), with receipts submitted for reimbursement. 4) Liability for Injuries: If the animal bites or injures any human or other animal, the Foster will hold harmless, indemnify, and protect LAWS from any claims or suits filed as a result of such incidents. 5) Inherent Risks: The Foster acknowledges that caring for animals involves inherent risks, including bites, scratches, and attacks. The Foster also understands that the fostering setting may cause additional stress on the animal, leading it to act outside of its usual behavior. The Foster agrees to hold LAWS harmless for any injuries resulting from these inherent risks. 6) Medical Care: The Foster can seek medical attention for the animal if illness or injury arises, and LAWS will cover medical costs for the animal while in foster care. For non-emergency medical care, the Foster is required to contact a LAWS representative for instructions on where to take the animal. Foster Responsibilities: a.
